As mentioned above, Singapore Airlines do not specify a maximum age limit for their Cabin Crew. Therefore, you technically only have to be older than 18 years of age to become Singapore Airlines Cabin Crew. However, there is an ‘age limit’ of some sort, as airlines do stereotypically hire younger members of staff. This is down to a few reasons. For a start, airlines take pride in their Cabin Crew. You are the people who represent the airline and are the workers that passengers directly interact with. You are ultimately the face of the airline, so airlines do look for young crew who will make the airline look modern and glamorous.
Another main factor is how long you will be staying with the airline. Airlines look for someone young so they will stay in the airline. This way, they will also be focusing on being Cabin Crew as their career. This means ideally younger candidates wouldn’t be married or have a family yet, so they can focus on their job instead. Can I apply if I am older?
Since it is well known, and stereotypical, that you need to be young to become Singapore Airlines Cabin Crew many people are put off. However, as I mentioned above there is NO maximum age limit. This means if you meet all the criteria and are willing to focus on a Cabin Crew career you can still be a successful candidate.
What can you do to maximise your chances?
First of all, you must meet ALL of the requirements for Singapore Airlines. If you don’t, then you will be rejected. Even though one of their requirements is being at least 18 years old, you should also check what qualifications you need as you may need to be a certain age to gain that specific qualification.
If you are an older candidate, you can maximise your chances by proving you have exactly what the airline wants and needs. To do this you could make sure you make the airline aware that you are willing to focus on your career. This is important to demonstrate on both your CV and in your interview.
You should also ensure you are glamorous and modern, fitting into the image of the airline. If you are an older candidate you should make sure you don’t come across as someone older. You should seem trendy and youthful for your age.
