Hi, My name is Dr Hayley Stainton, I’m a social scientist researcher who has worked, studied and taught Cabin Crew for the past ten years. I have helped hundreds (if not thousands) of people to secure their dream job at 30,000ft.
I have flown for a major British Airline and their subsidiary airline and operated both long and short haul flights. I have flown around the world, from Lagos to Tokyo. I have worked in economy through to first class.
I’ve also taught on Cabin Crew courses for a number of years. I have taught commercial courses and to UK awarding body specifications including NCFE, City and Guilds and BTEC. I have taught level 1 though to post- graduate (level 8) courses ranging from basic introductory courses to airline and airport management. I was consistently graded ‘OFSTED Outstanding’ when teaching in further education where I held a management role. I have since moved into the higher education sector where I undertake both teaching and research in the area of aviation. Many of my current students are also operating Cabin Crew for leading airlines such as British Airways, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, easyJet, Thomas Cook and Ryan Air.
Alongside this I am a travel writer. I have a number of high-quality academic publications including journal articles in the top tourism journals and an academic textbook. I am also author of the well-known book Becoming Cabin Crew: Everything you Need to Know about the Application Process, Cabin Crew Training and Life in the Skies. My main platform for writing, however, is my blog Lifeasabutterfly, where I write about current travel and lifestyle related issues.
I am currently developing a number of resources for both prospective Cabin Crew and Cabin Crew teachers, which will be available in the coming months. If you’re interested, please do subscribe for alerts and I will let you know once these are released. You can also contact me at hayey [at] lifeasabutterfly [dot] com or join the becomingcabincrew community on Facebook where you can find job alerts, discuss upcoming assessment days and experiences and anything else!
